To characterize the molecular identity of these LRG neurons, we injected a retrograde tracer (Alexa 594-tagged CTb) in dHPC and performed immunohistochemistry in prefrontal sections ( Figures S1 C and S1D). dHPC-projecting PFC LRG neurons include parvalbumin (PV), somatostatin (SST), and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP)-expressing subpopulations, as well as small percentages of calretinin (CR) and neuropeptide-Y (NPY) expressing neurons ( Figures S1 E and S1F).
