After five independent literature searches across PubMed and EuropePMC (ticks 35–38), no publication attributable to ‘Sun et al. 2023’ describing a microglia subtype taxonomy in human cortex could be confirmed. No PMID with ‘microglia’ in the title and first author ‘Sun’ in 2022–2024 was returned. This reference was included in the cross-cohort microglia reconciliation plan but cannot be verified from available databases. Proceeding without it creates a gap: if a genuine Sun 2023 microglia paper exists, its subtype labels (potentially distinct from Olah 2020 Hom1–4 or SEA-AD homeostatic/DAM/MGnD nomenclature) are absent from the planned crosswalk table.
