Description

While the study demonstrates excessive synaptic pruning by activated microglia following epilepsy, the mechanisms governing which synapses are selectively targeted for elimination remain unclear. This knowledge gap limits understanding of how to preserve functionally important synapses while allowing beneficial pruning.

Gap type: unexplained_observation Source paper: Wogonin mitigates microglia-mediated synaptic over-pruning and cognitive impairment following epilepsy. (2024, Phytomedicine : international journal of phytotherapy and phytopharmacology, PMID:39547095)
