The debate supports carrying forward BDNF-mediated hippocampal synaptic rescue as a modifier of CA3-CA1 vulnerability only if a proximal endpoint changes before the late outcome. The decisive validation path is: deliver BDNF-pathway activation in hippocampal circuit models and test synaptic function before tau-mediated degeneration.
