Mechanistic description
In AD, TNF-α/IL-6 maintain critical astrocyte-mediated glucose metabolism and lactate shuttling to neurons. Cardiovascular tissues have alternative metabolic pathways, making them less dependent on these cytokine-regulated metabolic circuits.
