What resolves this contention: Whether hippocampal VIP/IS3 cells provide direct or indirect inhibition of pyramidal cells / VIP/IS3 cells primarily target other interneurons (indirect disinhibition of pyramidals) / VIP-expressing neurons in hippocampus also directly inhibit some pyramidal cells
