What resolves this contention: Cortical implementation of delay-period short-term memory differs across mouse association areas: PPC implements a sequence-based dynamic code whose individual cells are transiently active (paper A), whereas ALM maintains stable, perturbation-robust selective persistent activity recoverable across hemispheres (paper B).
