CMV seropositivity is a major confound in age-associated GZMK+ CD8 T-cell clonal expansion: Grabauskas et al. 2025 (bioRxiv) demonstrate CMV-specific GZMK+ CD8 clonal expansion across 6 independent cohorts, directly overlapping the transcriptional signature previously attributed to aging per se. This demands CMV-serostatus-stratified analysis in any aging CD8 cohort.
