GZMK+ CD8+ T cells (Taa cells) expand progressively in peripheral blood with healthy aging in humans, consistent across the Mogilenko et al. 2021 Immunity mouse-to-human study and the Terekhova et al. 2023 Immunity single-cell blood atlas (n=166 donors, age 25–85). The Terekhova atlas additionally identifies a concurrent age-associated accumulation of GZMK+CD8+ T cells in PBMCs alongside loss of the NKG2C+GZMB− CD8+ memory subset.
