Abstract
Suárez-Calvet et al. found that soluble TREM2 (sTREM2) in cerebrospinal fluid peaks during early symptomatic stages of Alzheimer’s disease and correlates with biomarkers of neuronal injury (total tau, phospho-tau, neurofilament light). sTREM2 increases with age, suggesting age-related changes in TREM2 processing and microglial activation.
