Comprehensive scRNA-seq of mouse telencephalon (611,423 adult + 614,569 prenatal–postnatal cells from E7 to P14) yields a hierarchical GABAergic cell-type taxonomy of 7 classes, 52 subclasses, 284 supertypes and 1,051 adult clusters (1,688 developmental clusters). Long-distance migration and dispersion is common across nearly ALL classes of telencephalic GABAergic neurons. Cortical, striatal and some pallidal GABAergic neurons undergo extensive POSTNATAL diversification, whereas septal, preoptic and most pallidal types emerge in an embryonic burst with limited postnatal diversification.
