In layers 2–3 of monkey prefrontal cortex, GABAergic interneurons fall into 8 morphological classes (4 newly described) whose intrinsic-electrophysiological properties (firing pattern, AP shape) and molecular markers (CR/CB/Parv) diverge from the rodent canonical taxonomy — establishing that primate VIP/CR-expressing interneurons cannot be assumed to share rodent intrinsic-property profiles.
